Balmoral and Seaproof Solutions deliver powerful collaboration

With local content in the offshore wind sector becoming increasingly important to the UK and Scottish governments an Aberdeen-based company has brought its considerable product portfolio and expertise to the sector.

Since Balmoral Offshore Engineering acquired Norwegian cable protection specialist, Seaproof Solutions, in 2018, the UK offshore wind sector has developed into one of the most prolific markets in the world.

While Seaproof has safely and successfully delivered more than 1500 cable protection systems to offshore wind farms around the world it now has the full support of one of the most innovative companies operating in the specialised areas of subsea buoyancy, elastomer and insulation products.

Many Balmoral products - such as bend limiting devices, surface and subsurface buoyancy - are particularly relevant to the floating wind market and close collaboration with Seaproof colleagues has seen the re-engineering of several products to make them suitable for the renewables sector.

Much of Seaproof’s work is now being done at Balmoral HQ in Aberdeen - including design, project management, manufacturing and testing.

Henrik Bang-Andreasen, CEO at Seaproof, said: “Balmoral’s commitment to materials and product innovation has made it the ‘go-to’ company for projects that require intelligent collaborative supplier input. Now the UK offshore wind sector can benefit from this experience.

“With a strong culture of product innovation and working closely with national associations including renewableUK, NOF, Catapult, AREG, SDI and SCDI, Balmoral and Seaproof are improving the prospects for increased UK content in the renewables sector.

“I am presenting a paper at this year’s conference at 3:30pm on Wednesday 26th June and would be delighted to meet you then or at any time on stand number 80.
